Mary Pickhardt is an LA-based architect who needed her website re-done. This quick project involved a mini-brand refresh and the construction of a single-scroll landing page that focused on her mission and vision.
Her portfolio spans 20+ years, and she had inconsistent before/after shots of her work – we initially did a round of design work with more case studies and before/after photographs of her projects. Still, the photography wasn’t meeting our bar. So we decided to pivot to a copy- and typography-focused design with minimal photography that evoked the neighborhood and city she works in rather than using art that didn’t work anymore. (Fun fact: I took the picture in the above-the-fold section of her website as well.)
We went with a single-scroll landing page and on desktop, implemented a horizontal scroll for a slightly different UI. The copy is short and sweet, and SEO-optimized. The result is a concise landing page for an architect that articulates her expertise, experience, and mission.
I used Squarespace’s new version 7.1 to build this website.
