As the director of product for the company, one of the areas in my world was designing and maintaining the website for astrologer Chani Nicholas. The website serves as a central hub for Chani's diverse offerings, including overviews of her book, app, Spotify partnership, and services; a blog for her content; company pages for a press kit, executive bios, career openings, and legal pages; and a fully integrated Shopify online store for e-commerce sales.

The Chani Nicholas brand is an interesting example of an influencer monetizing and productizing their persona to sell services and products in the digital age.

Project Scope

Chani Nicholas, a prominent astrologer, had a comprehensive online platform to showcase her various services, provide insightful content, and facilitate e-commerce sales of her astrology-related products. The challenge, over time, was to update the design of the website as we launched new offerings, to create a seamless and engaging user experience that catered to both her existing followers and new visitors. The content and landing page portion of the website were done in WordPress while the online store was hosted on Shopify; the user interface looked identical, and we leveraged subdomains to make it seem unified and seamless for the user to navigate between the two.

Designing Landing Pages for Key Services

The website featured dedicated landing pages for Chani's key offerings, including personalized birth chart readings, overviews of her partnership with Spotify, overviews of her book You Were Born For This, and other astrological services. These pages were designed to be informative, visually appealing, and highly conversion-oriented. Calls to action were strategically placed to guide visitors toward booking services, resulting in increased engagement and sales.

Creating an Engaging Blog for Content

Chani's blog was a critical component of her website, offering a platform to share valuable astrology insights, updates, and other content. The blog was designed to be user-friendly, with clear navigation and a visually pleasing layout. Integration with social sharing and commenting functionalities encouraged user interaction and sharing of Chani's content, amplifying her reach and influence.

Developing a Shopify Online Store

To support Chani's e-commerce sales, a Shopify online store was seamlessly integrated into the website. This allowed her to sell books, digital workshops, and astrology-related products. The store was designed to be both visually appealing and user-friendly, ensuring a smooth shopping experience for customers. I facilitated launching products on Shopify that were both digital downloads in natural, as well as physical goods that needed to be shipped. Secure payment processing and efficient order management systems were implemented to streamline operations.

Continuous Maintenance and Improvement

Maintaining the website involved regular updates to ensure functionality, security, and performance. Continuous improvement was a key focus, with frequent usability testing and analysis of user behavior. Feedback from Chani's audience played a crucial role in enhancing the user experience and optimizing the site's design and content.
