HELPING PEOPLE GET HAPPIER

The "Happier" app, founded by renowned writer Gretchen Rubin, was designed to help users build and track positive habits and lead happier lives. In my role as product designer, I work with the CEO of her media company to continuously evaluate and redesign the app, enriching the user experience while retaining its core mission of promoting happiness through habit formation and self-reflection.

User Research and Product Roadmap

The first phase in any design project we do involves thorough user research to understand existing user pain points and aspirations. Through surveys, user interviews, and analytics, we uncovered valuable insights. Users wanted a more intuitive and personalized experience. This research formed the basis of our product roadmap, guiding feature improvements.

Redesigning Key Habit Tracking Features

One of the core functionalities of "Happier" was habit tracking. We revamped this feature to make it more user-friendly and motivational. Users could now set personalized goals, track progress, and receive reminders to stay on track. The design emphasized data visualization, visual cues, CRUD functionality, and interactive elements that made tracking habits enjoyable and rewarding.

Designing Journal Functionality

A journal feature was introduced to enhance self-reflection and self-awareness, two crucial aspects of happiness. Users could record daily thoughts, gratitude, and experiences. We designed this feature to be visually engaging and easy to use, encouraging users to make journaling a part of their daily routine.

Continuous UI Iteration

User interface improvements were an ongoing process. We continuously solicited user feedback and analyzed user behavior to make iterative changes. These included refining navigation, enhancing visual elements, and improving overall usability. The goal was to create a seamless and delightful user experience.

IMPACT & RESULTS

The redesign of the "Happier" app brought about significant improvements. User engagement increased, with more users adopting habit tracking and journaling. The app's user base grew as word-of-mouth recommendations spread. Additionally, user feedback became more positive, highlighting the app's improved usability and the joy it brought to users.

Redesigning the "Happier" app was a successful endeavor in enhancing the user experience while staying true to its mission of promoting happiness through positive habits and self-reflection. Through diligent user research, feature revamps, and continuous UI iterations, we created an app that not only inspired users to lead happier lives but also attracted a wider audience. The "Happier" app now stands as a powerful tool to help individuals pursue their journey to happiness.
